Graduation of 77 new Graduates in Pedagogy and Community Development in ISET/OWU was attended by President Nyusi.

Graduation with President NyusiChangalane - March, 27 - The Instituto Superior de Educação e Tecnologia/One Word University (ISET/OWU), of ADPP Mozambique, graduated 39 new students in Pedagogy and 38 in Community Development, in a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.

In an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and solemnity, the President of the Republic stated that ”this ceremony is not only a graduation, but above all an example of will and persistence of people who know how to estabilish their priorities, investing in the search for better solutions for their own problems”.    
On the other hand, Birgit Holm, Executive Director of ADPP Mozambique, stated that the newly-graduated 77 youths are “well prepared and are going to start working with all their might for the development of the Country”, underlining that “these youths are leaving with a deep knowledge of what is happening in Mozambique and its surrounding countries.
Confirming the expectations bestowed on them, the new Graduates had the opportunity to express in writing their commitment “with the cause of the Mozambican people’s development”.

Besides the President of the Republic, the ceremony was attended by almost 900 people, among them the Minister of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Professional Education, the Governor of the Maputo Province, the Namaacha District Administrator, the Traditional Authority of Changalane, the General Director of the Institute (ISET/OWU) and the Executive Director of ADPP Mozambique, besides several representatives of the ADPP’s partners.
Until now, a total of 700 students have graduated from ISET/OWU, of which 508 in Pedagogy and 192 in Community Development. The department of Distance Learning has currently 475 students in both courses and the participation of students from 19 countries, attending the degrees of Pedagogy and Community Development both in Portuguese and English.

The ISET/OWU has initiated the Degree in Community Development - Fighting with the Poor” in 2008, inspired by the President of the Republic at the time, Armando Emílio Guebuza, aiming to increase the quality of graduates in the districts where they are going to work, so as to allow them to participate actively in the development of the country.

The Degree of Pedagogy of ISET/OWU aims to train teachers and other professionals in the area of Education, who will use their knowledge and skills to promote innovation and creativity. The goal is to build the identity and professionalism of the teaching staff and the educators, allowing them to face the educational challenges of today and of Mozambique’s future.
